Saturday night I had the privilege of seeing the evolution of Hip Hop in the form of The Hii Hatts. I get excited about authenticity and the trio did not disappoint. It was my first time seeing them, and the short House of Blues performance was just enough of a teaser to have me internet stalking them to find out how to get to the next show.
From the crowd pleaser "OMG" to Paddi Stone's electric ventilation, the music and energy of the show was what the people crave in a Hip Hop performance.
As if uplifting the image and substance of Hip Hop wasn't enough, The Hii Hatts took time out to pay homage to Michael Jackson; what child of the eighties can't appreciate that?
I have officially put my Hii Hatt on, and I would like to tip it to the group for staying with the forward-movement tradition that makes Hip Hop so beautiful.
(Special thanks to Marie Lou Camit AKA Waverly for putting me on to the group.)
